This applies to your personal tax return just as much as to the tax return of your GmbH, AG or sole proprietorship.

Fixed-price tax return: how it works

The price of a tax return depends less on the number of forms than on your situation: an employee who owns no property creates less work than an entrepreneur with a securities portfolio and a holiday home abroad. That is why we ask about the key points upfront and set the price accordingly.

  • Fill in the calculator and get a guide price
  • Short conversation: clarify your situation and documents
  • Receive a binding fixed-price quote
  • Upload your documents in the client portal
  • Discuss the draft and file the return

How much does a tax return cost in Switzerland?

There is no one-size-fits-all figure, but the cost drivers are well known. For individuals, these are mainly real estate, securities, income or assets abroad and self-employed side income. For companies, legal form, turnover, number of employees and the state of the bookkeeping are added.

The calculator on this page takes exactly these factors into account and shows you a non-binding guide price. You receive the binding fixed price after a short conversation in which we clarify whether any special features apply – such as an inheritance, the sale of a property, or moving to or away from Switzerland during the year.

Tax returns for individuals

For employees, couples, pensioners and people with self-employed side income, we take care of the entire tax return: we check your documents, claim possible deductions and file the return on time. We take into account items such as work-related expenses, pillar 3a contributions, buy-ins to your pension fund, medical costs, childcare and property maintenance.

If you are taxed at source, a subsequent ordinary assessment may be worthwhile or even mandatory – for example above a certain income or if you have other income or assets. The application is subject to a deadline. We check whether it pays off for you and handle it together with you.

Tax returns for a GmbH or AG: what is involved

Corporations – the GmbH (limited liability company) and the AG (public limited company) – file their own tax return every year. It is based on the annual financial statements with balance sheet and income statement. Profit and capital are taxed; the rules of the canton where the company has its registered office and the direct federal tax apply.

For the tax return of your GmbH or AG, we check, among other things, depreciation and provisions, the distinction between business and private expenses, salaries and dividends paid to owners, and private use of company vehicles. This is where it is decided whether the tax authority will make adjustments.

If your annual financial statements are already available, the tax return is prepared quickly. If your receipts are in order, we can also prepare the financial statements on request. If the bookkeeping is not yet done, we catch up on it with you – this affects the price, but we quote it upfront.

Sole proprietorships and the self-employed

For tax purposes, a sole proprietorship is not a separate person: the profit is declared in the owner's personal tax return, together with the business assets. The tax assessment also serves as the basis for AHV contributions on self-employed income. Mistakes therefore have a double impact.

We prepare the business accounts and the personal tax return together, so that the two match.

The documents we need

The more complete your documents, the sooner your return is finished. You upload everything in the client portal, even directly from your phone. We show you any missing documents in a list.

  • Previous year's tax return and latest assessment
  • Salary certificates, pension and withholding tax certificates
  • Bank and custody account statements as at year end
  • Pillar 3a and pension fund certificates
  • Documents on real estate, mortgages and maintenance
  • For companies: annual financial statements or bookkeeping, payroll records and VAT returns

Deadlines and extensions

The deadline for filing the tax return is set by the canton. For individuals it often ends in the spring of the following year; different dates often apply to companies. In most cantons the deadline can be extended. If you miss it without an extension, you receive a reminder and risk a fine or an assessment at the tax authority's discretion.

As a PROFINIO client, you do not need to worry about this: we apply for extensions on your behalf, and you can see the dates in the client portal at any time.

After filing: checking the assessment

Filing the return is not quite the end of the job. If the assessment differs from the return, we check the reasons. If it is wrong, an objection can be lodged within a short deadline – which is why you should never file assessments away unopened.

Whether an objection is included in the fixed price or quoted separately is set out in the quote upfront.

Fiduciary services for SMEs at a fixed price

Many SMEs want more than the annual tax return: ongoing bookkeeping, annual financial statements, VAT and payroll administration from a single source. For these, too, we provide fixed-price quotes so that you can plan your costs for the whole year.

This creates an overall picture: whoever looks after your bookkeeping, payroll and taxes spots early on where your figures are changing and can alert you in good time.

Frequently asked questions

What does a fixed price for a tax return mean?

Before work starts, you receive a binding price for the agreed scope. There is no hourly billing. If new topics come up later, we discuss them with you before any additional costs arise.

How accurate is the calculator?

The calculator shows a non-binding guide price based on your information. We set the binding fixed price after a short conversation, once we know your situation and your documents.

How much does a tax return for a GmbH cost?

That depends mainly on turnover, the number of employees and the state of the bookkeeping. If the annual financial statements are already available, the effort is considerably lower. The calculator shows you a guide price for your situation.

Do you also prepare the annual financial statements?

Yes, on request. If your receipts are in order, we prepare the financial statements and then the tax return. If the bookkeeping is not yet done, we catch up on it with you and quote the effort upfront.

Can you apply for a deadline extension for me?

Yes. We apply for the extension with the tax authority and keep track of the new date. How long the deadline can be extended is determined by the canton.

I am taxed at source. Do I need a tax return?

Not always. Above a certain income or if you have other income and assets, a subsequent ordinary assessment is mandatory; in other cases it can be worth applying for one. We check this with you.

How do I submit my documents?

In the PROFINIO client portal. You upload documents, even from your phone, and can see at any time what is still missing and which deadline is coming up next.

Can you prepare my personal and my business tax return together?

Yes. For owners of a GmbH or AG in particular, salary, dividends and personal taxes are closely linked. We look after both returns and align them with each other.

Your finances and your administration do not have to be complicated.
